The uses and perils of AI 2023

 Consider this . In 2021 the actor Tom Hanks agreed to (maybe even encouraged) the use of AI ( at the state it then was) create a younger version of himself for the (excellent) film “A Man called Otto”. Now, 2023, he discovers that a fake version of himself has been used in an ad for dental care - see

It is getting easier by the day to create deepfakes (my bank ‘created’ a fake video of Warren Buffet talking to the bank’s clients). Yuval Noah Harari has said that creating fakes of people should be classified as a crime as  serious as counterfeiting money. It’s a question of trust which is the glue that keeps a modern, interconnected, interdependent society going
