Limiting the creative misuse of AI

 Authors and actors have been finding out that people have been ripping off their work , talent and reputation to make money.

It is also worryingly easy to create and publish fake material. It takes very little effort to create, publish and sell books written by AI on Amazon’s self-publishing platform KDP.

Amazon is now trying to plug the breach by limiting “authors” from publishing more than 3 books a day (imagine!) on KDP. 

AI fakery is starting to starting to pollute the world and it will get worse before (hopefully) it is controlled by regulation or legislation

AI in education (Australia)

Education Ministers in Australia have agreed to a framework for the use of conversational AI (ChatGPT style) in all Australia's schools from the first term of 2024. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2023/oct/06/chatgpt-ai-allowed-australian-schools-2024?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other It sounds like a sensible approach.  For all its huge potential dangers,it's her to stay. So better to try to understand the potential risks and benefits  and then implement AI in schools in a controlled way. As AI is moving so fast, the Australian education system will have to be very fast on its feet to spot new opportunities and dangers as they arise, and deal with them.  Good luck!

IBM’s interesting approach to AI

 IBM was for 50 years (1940-1990?) the world’s  biggest manufacturer of computers, mostly for business. they made a 15 year foray into the world of personal computers, but went back to being a company that offers products and services to business users. Like most everyone else in the computer world now, they are working on AI based services.
